The Galena Festival of the Performing Arts is an annual tradition, started in 2001, to provide exceptional musical performances and educational programs for the tri-state area. In the past thirteen years it has done just that and 2015’s 14th annual Galena Festival of the Performing Arts is looking just as exciting as ever!
Festival favorites, The Lincoln Trio, will be back this year, along with three new groups – have a look!
My Sweet Patootie – July 10th, 7:30pm
My Sweet Patootie is contemporary roots and ragtime at its best; bringing tight harmonies, monstrous guitar, sizzling fiddle and percussion together in one perfect package. From original swing to funky fiddle-tune arrangements to exquisite ballads, they deliver a must-see show that Driftwood Magazine describes as “two parts exemplary musicianship, one part vaudeville comedy”.
The Hunts – July 11th, 7:30pm
The Hunts are an indie-folk band from the southlands of Chesapeake, Virginia. Stringed instruments, surrounded by enchanting harmonies and thrilling rhythms harken to an organic yet transcending sound. These seven brothers and sisters have a passion for creating compelling music and so, have collaborated one another’s gifts of writing, composing and musicianship to endeavor that.
Tallymore – July 17th, 7:30pm
Tallymoore is a Milwaukee-based contemporary folk band who’s modern adaptations of classic Irish folk tunes have made them a favorite among music lovers and festival goers. Strong vocal harmonies and youthful energy fairly crackle from these accomplished musicians, providing a fresh, upbeat, and polished sound.
Lincoln Trio – July 18th, 7:30pm
The Lincoln Trio has been praised for its polished presentations of well-known chamber works and its ability to forge new paths with contemporary repertoire. The group’s reputation as a first-rate ensemble was lauded in a 2012 FANFARE Magazine, where they were hailed as “one of the hottest young trios in the business.”
