The Crisp Fall Air

Fall in Love with Galena

As summer nights drift to the cool fall breeze there is nothing more beautiful than the scenic hills of the Galena countryside.  The elaborate colors that paint their way over the trees is one of most amazing sights I have ever seen.  I fell in love with the sights and the smells of Galena in Autumn.  It almost begs for the warm arms of a loved one.  The soft embrace of a well-worn sweater and the warm crackling of a fire at night to cozy up to.  There is no more perfect time to visit Galena then during the changing of the leaves.

The weather is perfect for a trip downtown through the shops while enjoying a hot coffee at Kaladi’s Coffee bar, Devour Café, or Mean Bean Roaster’s.  For the golfer, it is the perfect time to hit the tee as the last fleeting days of the season sprinkle away.  The town is filled with activities to keep the fall spirit alive.  If you feel adventurous and brave enough there are some haunting ghost tours to get the heart pumping.  And what could be better after a day of shopping and spooking then to cozy on up to a fire-pit among friends with some libations and laughter to last the night long.  Galena has endless opportunities for relaxation, romance, fun and adventure.

Spring has Finally Arrived!

March 21, 2010 by Cheryl Farruggia

The days are getting longer and the weather is warming up. That can only mean one thing – spring is here! We’re already busy preparing the garden for our wonderful guests to enjoy.
Enjoy the tranquility of our pond. Let the sound of the waterfall soothe you while you gaze at our many Koi fish as they elegantly drift back and fourth.
Relax in our screened-in gazebo with views of our beautiful garden. This is a popular site of many engagements and weddings we’ve been honored to host.
Take in the smells and admire the beauty of a variety of flowers that grow in our garden.
When the sun sets, pop open a bottle of wine and savor the warmth of our fire pit. Cozy and romantic!

We’re excited to share the beauty of our garden and hope you visit soon!

Galena, Illinois Wine Lover’s Weekend March 26-28, 2010

Galena Wine Lovers’ Weekend is a city-wide celebration of good wine, good food and good friends. Wine lovers of all sorts are invited to enjoy fine wine, culinary delight, celebrity chefs, pampering packages and all of the stops Galena can possibly pull out.

Wine Lovers’ Weekend is a spirited way to warm the winter and add romance—whether it be for vino, gourmet cuisine or the love for a town with history and charm all its own. Wine-inspired dinners, spirit tastings, spa experiences, history tours, cooking demonstrations and shopping welcome and enchant visitors.

Kicking off the weekend is the Grand Tasting and Wine Auction—which has grown to be the one of the largest indoor wine tasting event in the state of Illinois. This year at the Grand Tasting, sample from 300 varieties of hand-picked wines and spirits. Cost is $30 in advance (online) or $35 at the door (while supplies last).
