Snow Got You Down…..

February 12, 2018 by Cheryl Farruggia

….Well Take the Ski Lift up to Chestnut Mountain.

Chicago and the Midwest have been hit will mountains of snow over the last few days.  Kids have enjoyed a snow day or two and some sledding but most of the adults have spent their time digging out, salting, and battling the slick roads and weather stricken traffic conditions.  Give yourself a break and head on over to Galena to warm up, relax, drink some wine, and go skiing.

Chestnut Mountain has something for everyone with 19 ski slopes, 3,500-ft run and 475-ft drop of Chestnut Mountain.  For the beginner they have Old Main, Bunny, Acorn, and Rookie’s Ridge while you get your ski legs ready.

Intermediate, advanced, and freestyle terrains are also available for the more experienced skiers and snowboarders. From novice to black diamond, riding through 220 acres of Chestnut Mountain will leave you breathless and in love.

Chestnut Mountain’s Far Side Terrain is the Midwest’s largest snow-covered terrain park, and all seven acres of its vastness is accessible through a triple chairlift.  Their 25 unique rails will have you entertained for hours.  Then come back home to us at The Cloran Mansion for a soak in your hot tub and snuggle up to a warm fire in your room for a romantic evening or a go downtown and enjoy some of the nightlife of Galena.

We can help you set up reservations when you book your stay.  We look forward to hearing all about your adventure.

Happy New Year

Welcome 2018

Thanks for the blessings of 2017!

With each passing year we ring in the New Year with dreams and goals for the year to come as we celebrate and commiserate the year we leave behind.  2017 has left us many beautiful memories as we watched couples begin their lives together making marriage vows here at the Mansion, couples come for one last getaway before they welcomed the birth of a child, and people celebrating anniversaries, birthdays, and just taking time to getaway.  We have had the amazing opportunity to listen to your stories and share in your joy.  For that we Thank you all!

Over the years we have built relationships with our guests that will last a lifetime.  Some guests come so frequently to stay with us; they are like family by now.  We are very grateful for your friendships.  We look forward to your visits very much, we are so glad our home feels like home to you as well.

2018 will bring so many more happy occasions and there are so many glorious things we have to look forward to.  The winter chill and snow will bring our snow bunnies out to the slopes at Chestnut Mountain.  As the frost melts and the spring air returns we look forward to all the exciting activities our perfect little town has to offer.  This March we will bee bopping at our 6th Annual Galena Goes 50’s Weekend.  The summer heat brings golf outings, shopping trips, Hot Air Balloons, and plenty of great festivals.  As we cool down for fall and the colors change we have our Annual Ladies Getaway Weekend, Oktoberfest, and our Halloween Parade and Festival.  Then we are back to the Winter Holidays and all the warm fireplace snuggles and the spirit of the season fills the streets.

We look forward to it all and we hope to see you this year.  Come visit us and experience an event in Galena you haven’t had the chance to before.

Happy New Year to you and yours.  Cheers to 2018!!
