Summer Fun it Happened so Fast

July 27, 2012 by Cheryl Farruggia

It seems like only yesterday that summer was approaching. I can hardly believe that July is over in a few short days and August will be upon us.  Never fear Galena has so many wonderful things to do every month of the year.  Here are some fun and exciting things to see and do on your getaway this August.

Jo Daviess County Fair is this August 2-4th.  What a wonderful opportunity to go to the carnival, play games, listen to music, and eat some yummifications.  Bring the kids, have a girls or guys retreat, or stroll the park hand in hand with that special someone (maybe you can win them a prize).  To view all the activities go to: http://www.jodaviesscountyfair.org/

Quilt Lovers this August 10-12th is the annual Galena/Jo Daviess Quilt Fest.  You are sure to enjoy some quilt-tastic fun this year.   For more information visit: http://www.galenaquiltfest.com/

August 11-12th is the 7th Annual Market House Square Festival.  Many talented Artists will be displaying their artwork for your enjoyment and purchases.  To view pictures from last years events visit: http://www.hellogalena.org/news/2011-04-04_market_photos.htm

You may also be interested in the Vineyard tours, Ghost tours, and Mississippi River tours while the weather is still warm.  Call and book your room with us and we can help you plan some amazing adventures while you are visiting our beautiful town.

11th Annual Galena Balloon Race

June 16, 2012 by Cheryl Farruggia

As the weather warms our memories bring us back to lazy summer days, cookouts, playing in pools and fishing trips. Galena has another wonderful tradition, the Annual Balloon Race. Each year in June the skies above Galena are filled with spectacular hot air balloons by day and in the evening the illumination as they glow in the night sky is breathtaking. The 3 daylong event features balloon rides, car shows, and live music. The Balloon Race is not only a wonderful experience for all; it also benefits the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
