Galena has another wonderful tradition, the Annual Balloon Race. Each year in June the skies above Galena are filled with spectacular hot air balloons by day and in the evening the illumination as they glow in the night sky is breathtaking. The 3 daylong event features balloon rides, car shows, and live music. The Balloon Race is not only a wonderful experience for all; it also benefits the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
