We have a few new packages to consider during your stay with us at the Cloran Mansion. We are proud of our history and encourage you to discover the natural wonders and fascinating historical sites in beautiful Galena. The packages include: Tickets for Galena’s History Museum, one hour Galena trolley tour and tickets for Ulysses S. Grants House Tour. Galena’s History Museum Experience Galena’s wonderful history firsthand. Galena’s History Museum is home of a wonderful collection of artifacts that tell the rich story of Galena: General/President U.S. Grant, Civil War, lead mining, steam boating, and so much more! Open daily 9-4:30. Please visit http://www.galenahistorymuseum.org for more details. Galena Trolley Tour Galena Trolley Tours offers historically and architecturally narrated tours. Relax as you listen to Galena’s history of a town nestled in the hills and valleys of a once thriving lead mining community, and major river port stop. Enjoy beautiful views as well as wonderful photo opportunities. The vehicles are open-air replicas of the original Cable Car as well as an air-conditioned executive coach. Please visit http://www.galenatrolleys.com for more details. Ulysses S. Grant, and for no other purpose.” However, maintaining the Grant’s home proved too costly for the city and the Grant Home Association, so in 1931 the city deeded the house to the State of Illinois. A thorough restoration project was undertaken in 1955. Considerable research was undertaken as the house was returned to its 1868 appearance. Fortunately, much of the furniture used by Grant and his family remained in the house. Please visit http://www.granthome.com for more details. We hope that you will take advantage of these amazing historical packages we have to offer. Please call for pricing and details. At the end of the day, enjoy a bit of alone time in our well-appointed, romantic rooms. Relax by our beautiful pond, enjoy our cozy gazebo, or cuddle close together around our fire pit. We [...]

The post The Cloran Mansion – Where History meets Romance appeared first on .
