Thank you Tim Schye….

We love our Bed and Breakfast and it makes our day to hear kind words from our guests after they have had the opportunity to relax and unwind at our Inn.  We take great pride in making sure each one of our guests has a memorable stay away from home during their time with us.  Here is what one of our guests last week had to say about his visit:

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the Cloran Mansion in Galena Illinois this past week. What an awesome experience! The grounds surrounding the beautifully kept Italianate Mansion were pristine. The Inn itself was beautiful down to every detail. Our room had a fireplace, flat screen TV, DVD and its own bathroom. The bedding was superb. We were right next to the parlor that shelved hundreds of DVDs – a movie for anyone’s taste.
The breakfast was great in quantity and quality. The pumpkin pancakes were the best I ever tasted.
The friendliness and care provided by the Innkeepers, Cheryl and Carmen made this our best B&B experience ever!

11th Anniversary

Innkeepers

It’s hard to believe that 11 years ago we bought The Cloran Mansion.

If I had to describe our first month it would be very simple, Scared, Broke, Amazed and today I would just say Still Amazed and absolutely no regrets.

It’s been an incredible 11 years.  We were married only 2 weeks before we opened, moved from a major city to a minor city and into a business that I knew absolutely nothing about.  To this day I have never spent the night at any other Bed and Breakfast, but I didn’t need to, my guests have taught me everything.

So many guests have touched our lives and I hope that we have touched theirs as well.  So many people have arrived here as guests and left as friends, many are almost like family.

We have had thousands of guests in our 11 years and although I cannot remember all of them, many of them will always be in our hearts.

We have had all kinds of people here from school bus drivers, teachers, technical people, factory workers, politicians, producers, and Secret Service, but they have all had one common element, a mini break. They are all just normal people looking for a small break from everyday.

We have had 97 weddings to date, 66 engagements on the property and 5 renewal of vows and a commitment ceremony. Each one has brought us wonderful memories.

We have had guests who arrived while dating, returned as an engaged couple, returned again as a married couple and returned again to show us their new baby.  We love the Christmas cards and baby picture that we receive each year.

We have made some incredible friends here, lifelong friends.  You cannot put a price on that.

We have had the opportunity in the past 11 years to become part of the community.  Cheryl has been the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Vice President of the Bed and Breakfast Innkeepers ofGalena, a Director on the Hospital Board and advisor on various committees.  I have been the President of the Bed and Breakfast Innkeepers of Galena, Co-Chairman and Director of The Visitors Center and on various committees as well.  Galena is a wonderful town to call home.

If I had to choose some memorable moments – probably first time guests ever to a Bed and Breakfast, nervous and worried about the “rules” of staying at a Bed and Breakfast and then turning around and becoming returning guests on multiple occasions.

The term “labor of love” is all I can think of.  I had (and still do have) the perfect partner who had some wonderful ideas and dreams.

It would take too long to go into every memorable moment, but let me assure you we have a lifetime of memories that have made us very happy and proud to own The Cloran Mansion.

Meet The Robbins…Couple #97

July 7, 2012 by Cheryl Farruggia

Some love stories as beautiful as they maybe follow a typical story line, boy meets girl, they fall in love…..

Sean and Katie share a unique love story of their own, but the ending for this lovely couple will surely be happily ever after as well.  Together with their family and Kate’s Best Friend and Maid of Honor they shared their vows and joined as husband and wife.  After the ceremony the newlyweds enjoyed a dinner reception and a toast to their future.

Congratulations to The Robbins!

96th Wedding

June 16, 2012 by Cheryl Farruggia

After five years of dating, Paul and Vanessa decided that June 15, 2012 was the day to tie the knot

Vanessa created the most unique and beautiful bridal bouquet.

She gathered brooches from family members and special moments to incorporate into her bouquet.

We are so very pleased that they choose the Cloran Mansion for their very special day.

The Cloran Mansion has had the honor of joining 96 couples as the beginning their lives together.

We are fast approaching our 100th couple.

Will it be you?

We have a very special surprise for our lucky 100.

Scott and Tina Lodor

Scott and Tina Lodor were married on June 9. Tina looked lovely in her elegant wedding gown and Scott, who proudly serves in the Military, looked very handsome in his military dress. Sharing in their beautiful day were some of their children. Daughters Tori, Riana, Mandy and Kaylee painted their toes to match their flowers. A spectacular couple and family.

Congratulations to The Lodors!
