Happy Mother’s Day

May 10, 2010 by Cheryl Farruggia

We would like to wish all of the Mom’s a happy and healthy Mother’s Day.

Lets not forget the Mom’s to be.

Many first time parents are looking for romantic getaways before the baby arrives, some might call it a babymoon, to take a relaxing escape together. The Cloran Mansion has a fantastic special to take a break from all the planning, organizing and preparing.

With our Pampered Parents Package you arrive in your room to enjoy a lite appetizer and sparkling juice with two signature Cloran Mansion glasses. We will pamper the future parents with a side by side couples massage for two. A relaxing prenatal massage for mom to be will ease the aches of pregnancy and a relaxation massage for dad to be will surely rejuvenate him. Before you leave your stay with us we will send you off with a bottle of Galena Cellars Champagne and a gift for the new baby.

Galena Trolley Tours offers historically and architecturally narrated tours. Relax as you listen to Galena’s history of a town nestled in the hills and valleys of a once thriving lead mining community, and major river port stop. Enjoy beautiful views as well as wonderful photo opportunities. The vehicles are open-air replicas of the original Cable Car as well as an air-conditioned executive coach. Please visit http://www.galenatrolleys.com for more details.

Ulysses S. Grant Home State Historical Site

granthome

In 1904 Grant’s children gave the house to the City of Galena “with the understanding that this property is to be kept as a memorial to the late General Ulysses S. Grant, and for no other purpose.” However, maintaining the Grant’s home proved too costly for the city and the Grant Home Association, so in 1931 the city deeded the house to the State of Illinois.  A thorough restoration project was undertaken in 1955. Considerable research was undertaken as the house was returned to its 1868 appearance. Fortunately, much of the furniture used by Grant and his family remained in the house. Please visit http://www.granthome.com for more details.

We hope that you will take advantage of these amazing historical packages we have to offer. Please call for pricing and details. At the end of the day, enjoy a bit of alone time in our well-appointed, romantic rooms. Relax by our beautiful pond, enjoy our cozy gazebo, or cuddle close together around our fire pit.  We look forward to seeing you soon!

Cloran Mansion hosts Commitment Ceremony

August 9, 2009 by Cheryl Farruggia

100_2059_edited-1On July 31 we had the honor of hosting our first Commitment Ceremony.  Carol Teagle and Susan Dexter were recommitted on their 10 year Anniversary.   They spent much time planning this very special day.  The ceremony was very personal and one of the most beautiful ceremonies we have seen.    They have been guests of the Cloran Mansion from our first year.  They are true friends and loved as family.   We wish them many more years of love and happiness.
